The 2026 Policy Agenda is out! This year, we focus around three central themes: improving current systems, generating revenue, and protecting individuals.
We see Vermont as a premier state for locally produced, world-class quality cannabis and related products. How we get there →
What’s in Bill S.278 as Passed by the Senate?
On Friday, March 27, after almost three months in the Senate chamber, Bill S.278, the leading cannabis legislation this session, passed the Senate and is on its way to the House. The legislation has changed since its introduction in January, including proposals such as a pilot program that allows Tier 1 and 2 cultivators and manufacturers to sell directly to customers, increasing THC package limits and expanding possession and transaction limits, providing greater protections for non-homeowners, and more.
Vermont’s Cannabis Market Is Unprofitable for Small Producers
We’re writing an open letter as the Cultivator Working Group of Vermont Growers Association, a committee of locally-licensed cannabis growers of different types and production sizes to advance the mission of VGA to establish a just, prosperous, and competitive market, to raise an urgent alarm that the regulated cannabis market has become an untenable business ecosystem for producers due to unfair laws, the situation is damaging the market, and that reasonable reform to address these flaws requires your support.
Retailer Principles
As Sara at Full Circle Farm and Ashley at Mothaplant are both well aware, to ensure a vibrant and thriving regulated cannabis industry for all licensees and consumers, Vermonters must prioritize shared interests over prosperity at the expense of others and reform the market's structure to be a just and viable. The Retailer Principles provide a set of clear and guiding values that retailers can adopt, enabling them to play a vital role in seeking a just market.
Vermont Cannabis Industry Emergency Fund
Cannabis farms and businesses are not eligible for federal emergency relief dollars, and the ongoing extreme weather events, as the result of human-caused climate change, affect licensees up and down the adult-use supply chain. The VGA Vermont Cannabis Industry Emergency Fund (VCIEF) is a collective action initiative for the industry by the industry, and grants are now open for applications.
The VCIEF is available to assist Vermont-licensed cannabis farms and businesses of every type in financial need after being adversely affected by natural and unnatural disasters.Learn more →
