Cannabis Control Board Update

On Thursday, June 10, the Cannabis Control Board held its fourth meeting to discuss small growers and transitioning legacy market actors into the legal marketplace, the Vermont Cannabis Equity Coalition, along with local small farmers and businesses, were invited to talk about the barries-to-entry in Act 164 and policies to address them. The Board also announced their Executive Director, and Governor Scott signed bill S.25 into law.

Cannabis Control Board Update

On Wednesday, June 2, the Cannabis Control Board held its third special meeting, arguably their most substantive meeting to date, with senior lawmakers and lead sponsors of S.54 as guests to walk through Act 164 and bill S.25. The Board also began to define its policy work by beginning to form subcommittees and tasking members with assignments, while they work to conclude their Executive Director search.

Legislative Update

The Cannabis Control Board is expected to hold its first public meeting on Thursday, May 27, and conclude its search for an Executive Director by the end of the month. Earlier in the week, the House passed a version of bill S.25, the preeminent legislation to reform Act 164, then later in the week the Senate suspended the rules, bypassing a Committee of Conference process, reconciled the bill to rush it to Governor Scott’s desk, then adjourned the General Assembly for the year Friday evening.

Legislative Update

The Cannabis Control Board has begun its search for an Executive Director, and with crossover a few weeks behind us, the House has finally taken up bill S.25, the preeminent legislation to amend Act 164, which landed in the Committee of Government Operations where lawmakers overviewed the status of the new market’s rollout along with key provisions in the bill.
